Sibelga is the grid operator for electricity and gas in Brussels. The gas expansion station in the centre of Brussels caused noise nuisance to local residents. Sound measurements revealed that the gas station emitted too much noise and that a solution had to be found that could achieve extremely high sound attenuation values. After a comparison of several parties DOX Noise Control and Alara-Lukagro were awarded the contract to produce, deliver and assemble the acoustic enclosures for the gas station.

The acoustic enclosures were designed with diverse hatches and multiple removable roof and wall panels, so that measuring equipment remains within easy reach and can be maintained. Despite diverse transits the enclosures are fully waterproof to prevent corrosion. Several enclosures were installed with one side against the concrete foundation, which meant just three sides had to be provided.
The enclosures were a turnkey delivery project, including engineering, production, double-layer powder-coating and assembly. Each enclosure achieves the established noise requirement and an on-site insertion loss of 35 dB.
